I’m trying to find a way to disable the delete option on Sales Order Line items. I tried looking into Field Level security but don’t see anything there.

Any suggestions?

Hi ,

I gave this a shot after seeing your post. The results with Field Level security were mixed, but there was some positive progress.

What I was able to do:
1.)Hide the Delete Row field in the blue ribbon.  I had some problems getting it to work with just password warnings or disabling/locking the field (but that could just be me).

 

2.) Hide the Delete Button on the Sales Item Detail Entry window.  Again, some issues with the usage of passwords/disabling the field, but could be a “me” issue.

What I have NOT been able to do (yet):
1.) Prevent the deleting of a row using the right click functionality.  I’ve not been able to find the exact field or combination of fields that would disable this using field level security.  My other initial thought would be a trigger of some kind using GP Power Tools.  might be able confirm/deny feasibility of a trigger for something like this.

Does that help at all?  I’d be happy to go into more detail on the 2 pieces I was able to accomplish with Field Level Security.

This is fairly simple to achieve with GP Power Tools for all of it (no need for field level security at all) and you can specify the users and/or companies it is active for.

Also if you use the upcoming Build 28 (in beta testing), you can control the users who this is active for ??by Security Mod Alt ID, Security Role ID or Security Task ID or even User Class ID.

I have customers who have already done similar customizations with GP Power Tools. One trigger after Window Pre can disable or hide the delete buttons and another trigger before Scroll Delete can disable deleting from right click context menu or from Edit menu.

GP Power Tools – Developer Tools module can be used for almost any customization you can dream of with the exception of creating a new window (but I have something in the pipeline to solve that too). Build 28 is fully functional with modified windows and modifier added fields and works on the web client.
