We are having some issues with a significant delay when trying to select the checkbook ID from the lookup window when in the Checkbook Register Inquiry screen.     I’ve actually timed from hitting select on the checkbook in the lookup listing to when it closes and populates the inquiry screen and the main operating account checkbook took almost 5 mins to close the lookup screen to showing data in the inquiry window…

Some of the checkbooks take less time (about 1min30 seconds to 2 mins.)

I’ve only found one obscure reference that said something about that if the dex.ini info for the letters and olenotes folders don’t match the directory structure that it causes a delay when selecting the checkbook … but I checked that on the GP that’s installed directly on the server with sql 2014 does have the correct directory structure and info in the dex.ini.

Now, the server is running sql2014 version 12.0.2000.8 with GP 2016R2 (was updated to this with the Canadian payroll tax update/reset in December).

The GP databases are all set to compatibility level of sql2014 (120).

I haven’t tried lowering the compatibility on the databases, so that’s my next thing to change and see if there is a performance change… but would appreciate any thoughts/ideas from the community….

      Thanks in advance.

      Hi Robert,

With some of our changes on GP 2016 R2 features, this has come up, we will fix this in the future, but we have a very easy workaround.

We have this noted in the below blog and in our detailed GP 2016 R2 documentation (attached)

Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2 – Bank Reconciliation – Reconciled Transaction Maintenance – Microsoft Dynamics GP Community

Two important notes for this new feature:

Transactions that have been entered in Bank Reconciliation will not be available to be voided once they have been moved to History using the Reconciled Transaction Maintenance window.  You will want to ensure that the transactions have been processed and can be moved to History, without the need to void the entry, as they will not be available when using the Void Transaction option in Bank Reconciliation.

Secondly, if you have a lot of transactions in your checkbooks, you will want to utilize a Date Range in the Checkbook Register Inquiry window when attempting to view entries within your larger checkbooks.  If you enter a date range into the From and To fields before selecting the Checkbook ID, the transactions will display very quickly.  This might not be the case if you select the Checkbook ID first.

      Thanks so much Terry!

I’m only responsible for running the backend stuff, not worrying about new features/processes so I wouldn’t have ever thought to check this out…. the information is very much appreciated.
