We are looking to restructure our chart of accounts.Ā  We think an outside consultant would be beneficial.Ā  Does anyone know of a good consultant for such work?Ā  Would prefer the DC area. Ā

Any advice for this undertaking that we know will be huge would be appreciated as well.

      Thanks so much!

      Tracy,

At Dynamic Budgets, we work with diverse customers to simplify theirĀ budgeting and reporting.
The structure of your chart of accounts obviously can have a huge impact on the ease of reporting, navigating yourĀ financials, and grouping accounts to distribute or assign stewardship to your employees.

We have worked with customers just implementing GP and they staged provisional charts of accounts in test GP systems, and quickly loaded financials in our product Dynamic Budgets by simply copying and pasting from Excel. The ability to immediately get their hands on the proposed revisions was invaluable.Ā  They were able to try to search by their new definitions, understand if they could assign certain account sets to their employees, rollup or distribute financials and or consolidate as they had hoped.Ā  One customer in fact dumped and reloaded their COA 6 times before it finally felt right.

More than happy to discuss your challenges, wish list, talk strategy and can provide a testing environment for you to take yourĀ proposed revisions for a test drive if you are interested.Ā

InĀ budgeting and reporting, we are at the mercy of what the organization gives us.Ā We can try to work miracles to present what you need and can obviously suggest ways to make it easier, but that’s only half of the story…

I’d suggest also seeking the advice of a core GP consultant to walk through the trench level warfare of transaction entry and reconciliation concerns.

Leslie Vail frequently presents webinars for GPUG on COA revisions.Ā  The following webinar outlines key concerns and introduces some of the tools and methods to physically transform your accounts.

If you are coming to Summit in Phoenix next Month, Rod and Tracey from Briware are presenting on this topic as well.

All the best, hope this helps!

You may want to read through this article.Ā  It walks through a lot of things you want to think about and was helpful before we redid our chart of accounts a few years back.Ā  We didn’t use any outside consultants.

      ?Hi Tracy,

We are working with a consultant on both a massive chart of accounts overhaul plus implementation of Jet Professional for reporting off that COA.Ā

Our consultant has been extremely helpful in helping us see the possibilities as well as theĀ streamlining and refinement of our new structure.

I am not sure I am supposed to name names here but will PM you their information!

      Caroline
