Is there a way to partially clear an item in Dynamics GP 2013? We have an item that was only partially cleared in December; the remaining will clear in January and I cannot figure out how to partially clear an item without making an adjusting entry… is there a way?
Thanks!

Hi Mary,
Can you expand on partially cleared? In my experience either something has or has not cleared 100%.
Sometimes a transaction can appear only in the GL (or only in the bank rec) if it was entered incorrectly- this can be solved with manipulation of transaction posting. Another option is to utilize the “adjustments” function with in the bank rec module, but it all depends on what exactly you are trying to achieve.
Please give more detail on your situation.
Best,
Jessica

Hello,
There is not a way to partially clear an item. There are a couple choices here:
1. You can void the item in Bank Rec and put it back in as two items and only clear one.
2. You can put in a corresponding increase/decrease adjustment that combined with your item will equal the amount that actually cleared. The increase/decrease adjustment should have no GL accounting effect, you can accomplish that by using the GL bank account as both your debit and credit account.
3.Put in another increase/decrease adjustment with no accounting impact that will reflect the amount cleared in the next month……..this will be an outstanding amount in the current month and clear in the next month.
I am assuming that all of the GL accounting came from your original transaction, that is why you don’t want any accounting created by the adjustments.

Thanks Jackie — that is what I ended up doing; splitting the entry into two items.
