Any Motorcycle Enthusiasts Heading to GPUG Summit This Year
Posted by Kristen Hosman, Microsoft MVP on April 6, 2017 at 3:47 pm-
I’m throwing this out there to see if there is any interest. How many of my fellow GPUG members are motorcycle enthusiasts? I am planning on riding my Victory Cross Country Tour to the good state of Tennessee and plan on spending the first part of the week in Eastern TN. I plan on riding from Colorado to Kansas to meet up with some other riders then head down to Eastern TN. I plan on being in Nashville on Wednesday about mid day; just in time for the evening kickoff of the Summit.
If you’ve never road throughout the Smokey Mountains you’re sure missing out! Some of the rides I have planned are the Tail of the Dragon, Blue Ridge Pkwy and the Cherohala Skyway…plus there’s many more.
For those of you that are interested in riding and making the week truly an experience let me know and I will send you the details of my trip that I have planned.

As I am in Northern New York I won’t be able to ride my Harley Special Edition Street glide down but as long as I can find a rental down that way I would love to join in!——————————

Hello Lisa,
You have some great places to ride around Nashville!
Here is a Harley dealer close to downtown Nashville that I would contact first.

A tempting idea. I have a 03 Road King and it would be a great ride. Not sure I can take the extra travel time away but will look into it. Does your route go through Kansas City?

Hello everyone. I’m so excited to see there is interest out there around this idea.
Lisa – I’m sure you could easily rent a motorcycle. We plan on being near the TN/NC border on Monday and Tuesday. You should look into renting around that area. If you’re then interested I have a friend with a touring bike that you could ride on the back with to get to Nashville. I know allot of times you have to return the bike you rent to the same dealer is why I propose this idea. I am sending all my clothes via FedEx to the Opry hotel so I don’t have to bring tons on the bike.
Steve – Renting in the Nashville area is a great idea however I don’t plan on riding much Wednesday through Friday. I’m dedicating my time to GPUG.
Jim – That’s awesome that you also have a CCT! Too bad you won’t be able to join us. Last year I did complete the Saddle Sore (1000 miles in 24 hours) so I am very aware that the CCT is a comfy bike. If it works out with the group I’m riding to TN with that I can do another SS I for sure will.
David – Yes my route from CO is bringing me right through KS. I’m meeting up with a friend from MN in KS on Saturday night and we plan on staying in a hotel right outside of KS. We then plan on hitting the road early Sunday and heading for Chattanooga, TN to visit the Magical Underground Waterfall before heading to the Smokey Mountains on Monday morning. (The Magical Underground Waterfall In Tennessee You Have To Visit). We plan on staying overnight in that area then making the 130 mile trip to Deals Gap area of the Smokey’s on Monday. Monday and Tuesday will be spent riding in the mountains and Wednesday morning we’ll head to the Opry hotel just in time for the Expo to open in the evening. We plan on leaving Nashville Saturday morning and making it back to KC in the evening. Let me know if this sounds like something you’re interested in.

I will not be going this year, but have ridden to several conferences. I also have a Victory Cross Country Tour. There is some great riding in that area including, but not limited to the Dragon, Charahola among others. If you a member of the VMC (Victory Motorcycle Club) the National Meet was held in Nashville in 2015. In 2016 it was in Fort Collins CO. Some great riding out that way as well.If you haven’t ridden that kind of distance on a bike before, the Cross Country Tour is one of the easiest to cover a lot of miles in a day.
Ride safe!
