      Hello.

We are looking to see if anyone has had any experience with reaching or using Sharepoint for document management in AX.

If you have already implemented this, or have researched and have any pros and cons you can share, I would be most grateful if you would contact me.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

We have been using Sharepoint for all our documents with our implementation of AX 2012 R3.
The integration between AX and Sharepoint is simple to setup.  But is not a very sophisticated document management system (for example all the uploaded documents are under one Sharepoint folder).  You can segregate the documents per legal entity.
By using Sharepoint, we found it was easier to control the access to documents by leveraging Sharepoint security system (rather than a share folder for example).
Also it was easier to give access to external users by exposing the sharepoint to the external world.
Also the backup of your document becomes a “simple” database backup rather than a folder backup

we explored it (the option to configure “Document Management” feature in AX to store documents using SharePoint) a couple of years ago on AX2012 R2

Back then it was very simple link, and not very mature – you could add documents but not delete them, for example.

We ended up not using it – I don’t know if has been improve since.
I guess in AX 365 it’s deprecated, since I don’t think SharePoint is part of the product any longer.
