We are looking for anyone who has had experience in either researching and/or the implementation of using Sharepoint for AX document management.
We would like some input on issues such as document segregation (say by AX module), how this is attained, how difficult is the setup, and how user friendly using this method to store documents is.

Hi Liz,
We are in the process of implementing AX document management using SharePoint split up by various business areas. Previously, we have used the file system for AP attachments. We found that we cannot move all of these attachments to SharePoint and maintain the links in AX; they get updated but won’t open from within AX.
So, we are planning to start fresh with new AP attachments in SharePoint and leave the old ones in the file system with their original links. We are also implementing attachments for Purchasing in SharePoint. We set up a SharePoint library for each business area and different Document Types in AX for AP and Purchasing.
It is a pretty quick setup once it is understood especially if you have not used the file system previously. If you haven’t seen it yet, the information in this link gives a good overview with implementation steps:
