We have the shipping interface working with FedEx and UPS. Is there a way somewhere in AX customer record to store the customer’s UPS or FedEx number so it passes through the shipping interface and bills them instead of us automatically?
We seem to be having issues when we select delivery terms of “3rd party” and put information into the “Carrier Account Number” field where is where we “think” this customer shipping account info should go. AX states that it’s invalid to do that. It may be a setting in delivery terms is preventing the adding of the account number as part of our issue… the second may be how to map that to UPS/FedEx selectively.

Jeff, It has been a while, so a lot of this is from memory. The carrier account number should be stored on the delivery address in the customer record, under the delivery fast tab. It is possible to have different account numbers on each address, so if they use different carriers for different locations, that is supported. You don’t need to use third party, that is for freight forwarders. The other other setting, from what I remember is the freight charges need to be set to core or core and ancillary. From there, the only field you should need to map over is the CarrierAccount field on the ShipCarrierShippingRequest table. Like I said, it’s been a few years so I may be missing something. If this doesn’t work let me know and if you want we can jump on a screen share. Seeing it in action may bring something back. Hope this helps!

Out of the box, AX requires to have an address of type “third party” set up on the customer master in order to be able to select the terms of delivery Third party. Since there is a third party address present, the carrier transaction table (what is being sent to UPS/FedEx) will present the information correctly but will consider it as third party shipping.
What we have done is a small customization to enable entering a carrier account number with a different term of delivery (collect) and without having to enter an address. The carrier transaction table records it as a collect transaction with the correct account number.
