In respect to Valentine’s Day, Feb 14, we’d like you to Share the Love.
Post a tip, share a best practice or give a shout-out to a fellow AXUG user who has made a difference in your life.
It’s a day to Share the Love and we’d like you to share your best with your fellow AXUG peers.

Learn a new tip from a co-worker yesterday!
I usually would go into Released Products, Manage Inventory, then On-Hand Inventory to check inventory on each item.
This was the time saving tip I got…
Go to Inventory Management, Common section, On-Hand Inventory and check it there.
with the asterisks instead of a color suffix.
I can now see all the colors of that item number and inventory on hand, what is on order!
What a time saver!
Pays to pay attention to how other do things in Dynamics AX, since there are so many ways to get to the information.
I tend to get stuck doing things the same way using my favorites all the time.
So this was a nice addition!——————————

Having trouble getting to true requirements for development of a mod or report? Do a paper prototype. (Agile developers taught me this…)Once you have initial requirements, or even as you are gathering them, create the paper version.
Use a screen shot of existing screen to start, then modify with sticky notes or in an editing program.Hand to the user and ask them to interact. Once they tell you what they would do, return (sometimes even scribbling the data as you are sitting with them) the output on a second sheet. Take it back and modify it as needed, keeping clear notes about what and why.
Repeat until you can walk the process through handing each “next screen” with appropriate data to the user with no changes.
Dig in and add field names and specs and create the same walkthrough experience using existing screens shots edited, or clean up your paper version and insert as pictures into the design doc. It can really reduce back and forth with users and developer and reduce cost of mods, too. I have had good results with it – hope you do too.

Rob, this cracked me right up! Have you seen my blog post about AX being better at math than I am? I think you might appreciate it.
