I want to setup a resource for below scenario. This is Casting manufacturing setup. For Heat treatment this resource is used.

      1. Total operation time is 20 hours. Each Job has – 19 qty.
      2. Route Parameter : setup time – 19.5 hrs; run time – 0.5 hrs , Process Qty – 19 ;Formula – Batch
      3. 1st Job start at 8 am and end at 4 am i.e 20 hours.
      4. 2nd job started at 8.30 am and end at 4.30 am. i.e after 30 minutes of first job ended.

This setup gives me right time scheduling for single Sales order with 19 qty. But for Two sales order with same delivery date the time calculation is 40 hours.

I want the resource to be schedule in such a way that the time required should be 20.5 hours.

It sounds like what you’re trying to do is leverage a single setup activity across multiple orders for the same product or type of product. That’s generally not something that can be done in AX or any standard ERP system automatically, though as part of the order review/release process the planner could certainly remove the setup activity from jobs as appropriate.

This is the type of scheduling that normally falls into the realm of “advanced planning and scheduling” systems, which would be third-party add-ons to conventional ERP. If it’s a critical requirement to you, and must be automated, then you should look into any of the APS vendors that offer AX-compatible products.

Would a route with the first operation being Setup @ 19.5 hrs run time, second op being first job @ 30 min and third op being second job @ 30 min work? Just thinking out loud…
