Has anyone received the error message before when they are retrieving a journal saying “Journal XXXX is not available for use. Please select another journal”? As far as I can tell the periodic journal is exactly like all of our other ones, the line exists and there is a date in it.Ā

      Thanks,

      Hello,

Yes this is a known issue, please seeĀ KB 4556580 on LCS for a workaround. “If the user trying to retrieve the periodic journal isn’t assigned to a User group, this error will be thrown. The bug is that user are not required to be part of a user group, so this will be fixed and will not be required any more.

Until the bug fix is available, an organization can work around the issue by creating a ‘dummy’ user group and assign all users to the user group. Any users that are part of a valid user group would not need to be added to this dummy user group. After the fix is available, the dummy user group can be removed. “

      Arush,

Assuming you are using D365. We experienced this as well. We thought it was a security issue but it turns out it is a validation issue. Our D365 IT person figured out that D365 has added some new validation around periodic journals. D365 is making sure the user requesting the periodic journal is also a member within the usergrouplist table. Once we added the individual who was receiving the error, she was able to use the periodic journal in question.

      Hope this helps!
