  Intercompany Orders shipped via Voyage – how to accommodate this?

  Hello Community!

  I am in the process of assimilating in a European subsidiary into a F&O environment as a new legal entity (LE). This new LE will purchase items from another, existing LE using the intercompany framework. No problem there.

  Where I am running into a conceptual issue is the business requirement that the new LE will handle the shipment tracking using a voyage and the associated goods in transit orders. In short, I’m wondering if anyone else is using D365’s intercompany order processing capabilities in conjunction with the landed cost module for Voyage tracking and receipting of Goods in transit orders?

  Here’s an example of the concern:

  1. An intercompany purchase order is created in the new legal entity (I’ll call it LE1), resulting in the creation of a fulfillment sales order in the supplying legal entity (I’ll call it LE2).

  2. Currently, we have to post the invoice for international purchase orders tracked through the use of a Voyage waaaay before we ever receive the product. We actually post a non-receipt invoice on these POs the moment the voyage hits the water. We consider the product owned by us the moment this happens.

  3. The above condition presents supply sales order invoicing issues for the following reason:
  a. When the supplying sales order invoices, it cannot post the corresponding intercompany purchase order invoice as that po has already been posted (manually, by the user to indicating the start of the Voyage). This results in an error

  b. If we didn’t post the invoice on the purchase order to start the voyage, the supplying sales order invoice still errors out as it cannot perform a 3 way match to the PO as there are no receipts posted for product on the PO (there will never by a receipt posted directly to the purchase orders), rather they are posted to the goods in transit orders.

  So…to tie a bow up on this, I’m curious if anyone else is using intercompany order processing where the receiving legal entity handles the shipment tracking and receiving of the purchase order product using Voyages?
