We created a worker and accidently set the worker type as ‘Employee’ when it should have been ‘Contractor’.Ā  It was quickly recognized.Ā  We could not see how to just change the ‘Worker Type’ so they were created again with the worker type as ‘Contractor’.Ā  The worker no longer shows in the Employee grid, but does show in the Contractor and Work grids as ‘Both’.Ā  There are also two Employment History records – one for Employee (from 2/11/2021 to 2/11/2021) and one for Contractor (from 2/11/2021).

      A couple of questions:

Ā  Ā  Ā – How can we set the worker type for this worker to be just ‘Contractor’ and not ‘Both’?
Ā  Ā  Ā – How can we just change the worker type when a mistake is recognized?

      Thank you!

In D365 there is a function [Change worker employment type] on the worker form, Worker ribbon …. not sure if AX2012 was the same.
Never seen the “Both” type I’m afraid.

      Jonathan,

Thank you for your response.Ā  Double checking with HR, they did use the ‘Change Worker Employment Type’ to change the worker type from ‘Employee’ to ‘Contractor’.Ā  The most recent employment history record shows this worker as a ‘Contractor’.Ā  Opening the ‘Change Worker Employment Type’ form now, presents the ‘New Worker Employment Type’ as ‘Employee’ – which is the only option it could change to from ‘Contractor’. This is fine and works as it should.

My suspicion on the grid displaying ‘Worker Type’ of ‘Both’ is due the this worker having history as both worker types on the same date.Ā  This can easily happen if a mistake is recognized.Ā  A worker cannot be both ‘Contractor’ and ‘Employee’ at the same time.Ā  We’re not sure of the impact of ‘Both’.Ā  One would expect the worker type on the grid to showĀ  what the current worker type is for the worker.
