I am trying to set up fixed asset depreciation in a company that uses 4-4-5 fiscal calendar (each quarter has 3 fiscal periods, 4 weeks, 4 week, and 5 weeks, and so forth)
I am using AX 2013 R3.I set up the depreciation profile for Straight Line Service Life, and frequency of Fiscal Calendar/Fiscal Period.
when I go to depreciate the asset, AX correctly recognizes the fiscal calendar, and the creates depreciation proposal line correctly on the last day of each fiscal period as the posting date.
However, I expected AX to depreciate more (5/13) on the 5 week periods, and depreciate less (4/13) on the 4 week periods. Instead, all my depreciation amounts are exactly 1/12 from the annual depreciation amount.
How can I get AX to take into account the period length when proposing depreciation amount?
??????????

Hi Zvika,
We don’t use this in my home country; yet, I found the following post.
http://ellipsesolutions.com/setup-new-fiscal-year-calendar-4-4-5-5-4-4-periods-microsoft-dynamics-ax-2012/
Hope this helps.

yes, I saw that blog. It only explains how to set up fiscal calendar I don’t think it says anythingĀ about fixed assets or depreciation.
This type of fiscal calendar is not country specific but industry.
It tend to be used in retail companies.——————————

Hi Zvika
Do you have your calendar set on the value model?
We use a 4 4 5 calendar a lot and it does work š

Hi Nicola, I did set up the 455 calendar on the value model – it helped in getting the depreciation date post to the correct date, but still only made equal posting.
Per Ryan’s message below it seems like I need to create a new weekly calendar, so I am keen to learn if you guys have a solution involving using the SAME 455 calendar.

Hi Zvika,
See the post below for a description on how to set up fixed assets with the 5/4/4 period lengths.——————————

Thanks Ryan – this looks like it would work, I will give it a try today.
The only limitation I see with this method it can really only be used to post depreciation for one period at a time, since AX fixed asset setup does not “know” about the financial periods, but only about “weeks” – still I think this is good enough.
I completely missed out of the original post….
