Has anyone been able to export the Financial Data Warehouse that Financial Reporter sits on in D365 to Data Lake or BI?Ā  We would like to use Power BI to report financial information through Power BI rather than FR?Ā  I know Microsoft is working on Power BI financial reporting solution, but we would like to leverage the data warehouse on our own.

      Hi Jerry,

We’ve been testing this feature for the last couple of months. Based on our experience, it’s still a little bit premature. We can get the data exported to ADL, but the PBI connector still does not properly read data from the ADL tables. The model.json file is supposed to tell PBI what the columns and data types are. The problem is each csv files that are exported do not have column names; they are just raw exports. The json file should “link” to the tables so that you can see both the column names and the data.Ā

There have also been issues with cross data center authentication issue. To date, one has to ensure that both D365 and ADL are in the same geographic data center/location.Ā

Due to these issues, we continue to recommend configuring BYOD.Ā

Hopefully these final issues will be addressed soon.

      Mike
