Good day – has anyone else got this error message? Earlier today with this message our DAX 2012 R1 locked out all users to printing order reports and processing orders ie: Shipping.

Failed to create a session; confirm that the user has the proper privileges to log on to Microsoft Dynamics

      Blaine,
Are you using terminal services? I have seen a similar message when the terminal server is out of disk space. Can you verify if all your servers have ample disk space?

      Regards,

      Blaine,
In System admin, in Online Users, check the online users count. I have seen this issue when the number of connections exceeds the allowed connections on an AOS (default is 2000). If there is a custom or 3rd party app using the business connector or AIF and the sessions aren’t closing correctly, the AOS can still consider them connected even through they are not. Restarting the AOS clears it up as it forces all the connections closed.

Scott – a Windows upgrade on our AOS servers caused the users to loos connection to the DAX DB. Funny the uses could use DAX but not update anything. Restarting the AOS services and SSRS got everything back aligned.  Thanks for your comments. Blaine

Not sure if this was you case specifically, but on our side we had the database restart (failover) one day and AX “seemed” to be up until a specific action of the user.  It seems the AOS keeps reference to temp tables in the tempdb database.  The tempdb was flushed on the failover and thus gave big error message to the first user that logged in AX and used one of those temp table.
