Hello AXUG friends! Ā We are running 2012 RTM. Ā  There are a variety of ways AX routes emails internally and externally for us. Ā Where non production environments are concerned, we are looking for a way to allow internal emails to route, but stop external emails from routing to customers, etc. Ā We still want to be able to receive emails for internal testing of workflows, etc. Ā Does anyone for a solution for this?

      Thanks!

I have this come up pretty frequently.

As a general rule, I tell organizations to only allow emails in test/dev on specific tests. Ā So step one is to have a practice of removing all email setup in dev and test including the email addresses to prevent accidental email to customer or vendor or other trading partners. Ā And then be very specific about the type of tests your performing.

However, in certain circumstances I recommend handling this from the exchange server. Ā Since I’m not an expert on Exchange, I can’t tell you the specifics but I can tell you that its possible for Exchange to route emails differently based on rules such as originating server. Ā For instance, as long as your test/dev server are installed on servers other than Production you should be able to set a rule to prevent outgoing email to external addresses from a specific AOS based on setup of the exchange server.

      I hope that helps.
