      Hello out there!

Can someone guide how to implement electronic signatures?Ā  Can they be put on any printed document or is it restricted to only a few in standard AX?

      Thanks!

      Hi Mark,

Are you referring to the definition of electronic signatures described here?Ā https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamicsax-2012/appuser-itpro/electronic-signature-overview

If so, it is not related to printing a picture of a signature. It is about logging an action which needs to be confirmed by a user with an additional “password”. Then a log will be kept of the changes together with details of the user, PC, timestamp.

      Hi Andre,

Appreciate your response.Ā  The electronic signature referenced is needed to print someone’s signature on documents.Ā  How is this set up and then used in AX 2012 R3?

(My apologizes if I confused this by prefacing with ‘electronic’ for this.)

      Thanks!

Use this procedure to require electronic signatures for built-in processes or processes that you previously created.
      Ā
Click Organization administration > Setup > Electronic signature > Electronic signature requirements.
By default, the electronic signature functionality is available for the following manufacturing processes:
      Ā
      Approve route
      Approve route version
      Activate route version
      Approve bill of materials (BOM)
      Approve BOM version
      Activate BOM version
      Release production order
      Report production order as finished
      Ā
You can also set up a custom electronic signature requirement for a table or field in Microsoft Dynamics AX.
Custom requirements for electronic signatures can cause application errors.Ā

      Hi Mark,

Signatures printed on generated documents such as invoices and orders are not OOTB feature in AX 2012/D365FO – except for the Check report and perhaps some others I’m not aware of. You can achieve it only through customization of these documents.

However, you can easily print signatures on any document by using a reporting tool such as Docentric AX, which enables you to design business documents in MS Word and place a signature bound to a dynamic image in the document data source anywhere in the document template.

You can also watch this video to learn how Docentric supports electronic signatures as well as signature appearances on the signed PDF documents.

      Kind regards,
      Ana
