      I wonder if there are other retailers here who dealt with a similar issue.

      We sell food.
      Sometime we sell the same item either by unit, or by case.

      Issue is,Ā  while an item might be taxable when sold as a single unit (=set for immediate consumption) it might carry 0% tax when sold as a case (=general food grocery).

      I know we can just define 2 different items, one for “unit” and one for “case”, each of them with a different value in the Item Sales Tax group, but it is easier to manage inventory combined for both the case and the units, for planning, counting, inventory management etc.

      I wonder if there is any functionality to allow to get different Item Sales Tax group values to default into the sales order line, based on the Unit of Measure used

      we have had a issues and had to write some custom code to work with the conversion tables, but I should point out that was to work with Brazil NSF.
