We’re running up our new Dynamics 365 Finance & Ops, Enterprise Edition (7.3 Update 12) on a Tier 2 cloud instance. We’re finding that completing a free text invoice, then posting it, results in it hanging (and no post made). We can see other folks having hang problems when printing a free text invoice, but none where it’s just a post attempt alone.

Our support switches on when we get to implementation, so we’re a bit stuck right now. Any ideas what the root cause is likely to be?

You might be able to see what is hanging in LCS.  Go to the environment in question, scroll to the bottom and click the link “Environment monitoring”.  Then click on the Sql Insights tab and finally the SQL NOW tab.  There you should see currently executing statements and blocking statements.  This may give you a clue what is going on.  It at least gives you something to pass on to Microsoft.

Hi Ian,

Do you have customizations around posting or printing the free-text invoice? What settings have you done for the Transfer rules in the GL parameters? The free-text invoice posting is using the subledger posting framework.

There appears to be a hotfix for hanging free text invoices in the Knowledgebase (posted last week), so we’re putting that in to see if it clears the problem. The fix apparently simplifies one of the SQL queries made quite considerably. We’ve also ticketed it with Microsoft via our CSP.

It’s just free text invoices for any user, no other facility appears to have an issue. No customisations – just raw out of the box functionality.

No other transaction type appears to be affected at all.

We had the same hanging issue with free text invoices. it would happen 100% of the times.

Is that the only transaction that is hanging?
are you able to post PO receipt/invoice, SO receipt/invoice?
we initially noticed that only on FTI but upon further testing realized all those transactions were hanging in the same way.
