We are upgrading from AX 2012 RTM to D365.Ā We are looking for past experiences using SharePoint for D365 file retention vs the native blob storage.Ā If you’ve deployed Sharepoint and can share pros, cons and unexpected situations we would appreciate it.
I haven’t used SharePoint as a destination yet but if you are considering this I would suggest you look at the Docentric AX add-in. Their tool has some direct to SharePoint output options and has revolutionized our D365 reporting. Modifications to reports no longer require a developer, and the output options are very flexible. I feel the price they are charging is very reasonable, and there is even a free option for basic functionality.
Check out the “destination” section of this page for all the different output options and a comparison with built-in functionality: https://ax.docentric.com/free-edition/
* We are a paying customer and incredibly happy with Docentric. I was able to modify our check layout for a new bank and get compliance much quicker than my last SSRS design implementation with my D365FO vendor. I have also modified some basic reports like the PO confirmation very quickly. Their tech support has been amazing. They are very responsive (even when overseas) and have been spot on with every recommendation they have made.
