Containerisation/pallet build process

    Hi,

I am working for a client that would like the following:

When a sales order comes in they have to know how many pallets need to be created so that the transport company can then be given that information as soon as possible. This is a fast moving business and is rather reactive.

For the pallet build (container build) they have different dimensions for each item that will eventually make up that pallet. Additionally, they need the stock to come from both the warehouse and some to be produced and what they don’t have to be sourced from production and come out as a finished goods that will then have to be directed to the SSCCs that were calculated as soon as the sales order is created.

The SSCCs have to have the same SSCC numbers that will be used when the lorry is loaded and they want to be able to pick to these specific SSCCs from various areas in the warehouse and from production. This is not going to be done in standard (I don’t believe it can be) so it is an extension/customisation.

I believe these are the important points to the customisation:

    1) Calculation of the pallets at the point of order entry so that this can then be passed onto the transportation company.

    2) They need to know what is in stock and what has to be produced so a calculation for that has to be created.

    3) They need to know where they are picking the stock to (which SSCCs).

Does any one have any more ideas on this in terms of how this will affect the current process in D365. This is an intricate and any help is appreciated. Thank you! 😀

A few other things to consider:
Does weight factor in on how much can be put on the pallet? Or is it just dimension?

There are some ISV products that calculate containers, perhaps they can be adapted to do a pallet, it’s a similar thing.

For your finished goods are they make to order where the dimensions would be different on a regular basis? Or can you estimate the dimensions. What happens you are off a little bit?

This could be a power app depending on the process flow.

Just a few thoughts. Good luck!
