      ?Good afternoon,

I am wondering how other companies handle Engineering Change Notices in their AX system?Ā  Currently we handle the process outside of AX with an excel form that gets routedĀ to othersĀ within the company via email.Ā  After it is a approved, we scan it and attach it the release product page of that item in AX.Ā

I know on the BOM screen, there is an option to select Product Change and you can associate it with a case.Ā  Is anyone doing this? If so, do you have any guidance, do’s or dont’s or suggestions on how to set this up?Ā  We currently use cases for warranties andĀ am looking to expand thisĀ to other uses as well. What other uses are you using cases for?
      Ā

Thank you. I appreciate your feedback.

We are currently implementing D365FO. In our current system (NAV) we use an InfoPath workflow to handle changes to master data. With the functionality in D365FO, I believe we can handle it within the system. I would be curious to hear how others are handling this, as well. Great question, Tracy! Thanks for posting.

      ?Hi there,

I’ve implemented this at quite a few clients.Ā  I’ve seen ‘Case management’ used from running incident management for a specific module to being the backbone for the helpdesk for an entire enterprise.Ā  Mostly you see it being used for Ā customer service for customers.

Case management has ties all throughout the system, which can be seen through ‘Case associations’.Ā  There is a lot of functionality tied to cases, but mostly I try to just use the basics, (and hide the rest).Ā  You can create a case, assign a category, and depending on that category type, you can use workflow to send to the correct group of users to triage.Ā

The best way I saw it leveraged was a customer service department was recording the number of system hours before a device they sold would begin to experience failures.Ā  The Sales team was able to work with the Engineering team to identify which pieces began to fail at certain times all because of the ties and configuration of Case management.
