Trying to cancel a Return Material Authorization that has registered at Arrival overview, posted in Item Arrival journal.  I’ve followed the following cancellation steps:  

Sales and Marketing >common>return orders>all return orders – select RMA go to Journals button at top of screen and click on packing slip – choose the one you want to cancel and click on cancel.

 At this point the following Infolog message appears:

Hi John,

The error is telling you that the sales order you are cancelling was created back in August 2016 and that period has already been closed. If your organization is not done with the fiscal year close than you can reopen the period and cancel it, but you have to be extremely cautious because it affects your COGS and revenue. So, consult with your financial folks before you do that.
