Business change to Cost Center/Profit Center

We are looking at moving from 55+ internal individual business unit income statements to a cost center/profit center business structure. We are a material handling business using the project module for revenue recognition. Has anyone done this? Any suggestions, pitfalls, lessons learned?

This is a very broad question.

Are you making changes to dimension values in a live environment? which ones? at a high level – re-doing financial dimensions has a lot of effort, and will require practicing several times before doing it in production.

  Hi Zvika – that has not been determined. We currently roll up our dimensions to 5 different platforms and when we have changed dimensions in the past we created new ones that rolled up to those platforms as well allowing the old ones to run out until fully utilized on open activities (projects, po’s, etc) then we disabled them.
