Hi there-

We are using AX 2012 R3 and looking for help/advice in setting up a batch job to run delivery date control  in order to populate the confirmed delivery dates on a large selection of sales orders in the system.    We have done much research on the topic but cannot find anything in the literature or help online on whether or not this is even possible.  

Having the ability to batch process and populate the confirmed delivery date on sales orders using delivery date control would greatly reduce order processing time when we receive hundreds of orders overnight.  We will be able to batch confirm a select group of orders once the confirmed delivery date is populated.  Our process requires the confirmed delivery date to be passed to scheduling upon sales order confirmation, so this field cannot be left blank.

Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated!

The obvious problem I see is that most forms of delivery date control are sequence dependent.
For example, if I use CTP on one order, it is then using up a certain spot in the plan, and thus the next order is moved out further.
So any batch job you run would have to be ordered and processed in sequence. Another technical hurdle you might face is the need to keep each order in it’s own transaction, as there is a possibility without actually committing the transaction the system would “see” the result of the previous orders when setting the date.
