What methods are available to me to be able to have our D365 F&O system send an automatic email to the customer if and when the confirmed delivery date on a Sales Line is modified?

The best possible solution is probably to automate the order confirmation via print management, and then train your staff to confirm the orders.

If your staff need an alert to remind them to confirm, you could setup an alert on the table – but that might get annoying very quickly – depending on how many lines get updated.

Lyle:

I have only used alerts to send e-mails based on specific fields being updated, unfortunately the Alert rule has to be set to a specific e-mail address.  I would suggest looking into Power Automate.  We use it to populate an external SQL database with sales order information and I know the connectors and rules you can create are extensive and very flexible.
