I may be crazy but I would have sworn that you were blocked from entering anything in the standard cost block in the item card if there was a BOM attached to the part?

Is this new in NAV 2018 ? or has it always been this way?

It is editable in NAV2013R2 (there is a BOM for my selected item).
We get a pop-up warning if we try to change the Std. Cost.

Thanks for the response.

I think it would be a good option to allow or a customization to add.

If I can find the time I will experiment as I wonder if just setting a standard cost on the item card will create an imbalance with the cost share reports since the system can’t know what the material costs vs. capacity breakout is?

And will a standard cost worksheet global cost writeover the manually entered standard cost?

You are correct that it is editable, and it is definitely dangerous. If you change that field and the revaluation journal is not run, your inventory will not be correct.??

I agree it’s very dangerous ———— If it messes the cost shares and inventory values up —- I will probably get a mod to grey it out if there is a BOM attached to the part!

We commonly do a very simple modification that will prevent changing the standard cost on the item card if there are any value entries present for the item and steer the user to the standard cost worksheet.
