I have a user who has been receiving slow speeds once he hits the print button to generate a custom report. What takes several other users 30 seconds from start to finish takes him 8 minutes. Is this a NAV issue or IT issue? It”s probably not just on custom reports as he gets slow processing times when receiving transfer orders also.

I would say PC. Is the user on a laptop and/or wireless connection?Ā  Both are slower than desktops and wired. Does he have other RAM or processor intensive programs running?

2015. And the user is on a desktop was a wired ethernet connection. He does not seem to have any other speed issues with excel word outlook etc.

We have had a few users with the same issue.Ā  What we determined is if a printer is installed on the server and the user is selecting that printer, it takes a few minutes to print a report.Ā  If that same printer is installed locally on their workstation, it prints within 10-20 seconds.

We battled this forever – and our solution was to install local printers versus server side.Ā  Once that happened, our print speeds normalized again.Ā  I do feel that later versions of NAV have improved this (2015 and higher), however our 2009 and 2013 versions in the past were brutal slow (minutes versus seconds) until we went the local printer route.Ā  And we have 100% virtual system with all-flash storage on the backend.Ā  Client computers were newer, too, with i7 chipsets and 8Gb RAM.
