Has anyone attempted to add signature capture to standard NAV?  Specifically NAV 2015, but interested in other versions as well.

This is for a service related client who has the client sign their previously paper based order.  They are moving to tablets for their service techs, and are trying to get the capture initiated from NAV.  I’m envisioning storing the signature in a BLOB field on the Service Order.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions or articles to read.

Our Quality coc prints on every packing slip.  We have this set up in NAV 15 but it is on the company info page as image for coc.

Might take a look at Anveo.

This videos shows Anveo Mobile App capturing a signature on a smart phone and sending it to Microsoft Dynamics NAV. The signature is shown on the corresponding sales order in Microsoft Dynamics NAV’s Windows Client.

Thank you both for the quick replies.

Holly, your signature is a stored image in the database.  Unfortunately, I’m looking to capture the signature on the fly while with the client.

The Anveo video is showing what we’re looking to accomplish, but I was wondering if anyone had used native NAV to accomplish the same functionality.  I figured since touch devices have been out a while someone may have found a way to trigger the touch functionality and store it as a picture in the database.

We’ve implemented signature capture in standard NAV 2015 using the Topaz tablet, storing signatures as a BLOB for both Sales Header and individual line items. The signature is also displayed in a Fact Box once captured.

Depending on how many signatures you are trying to store, it could eat up a lot of space if attempting to store in NAV, your better off saying the image as a jpeg/png somewhere on a directory and save only the path to the file in NAV. That way you can always refer to it on any document you want to use.
