Is anyone using scan guns on warehouse picks for sales shipments with break-bulk lines?

We’re having some complications with this process and it is hard to believe we’reĀ  the only company doing this.

      #NAV2013R2

      • Base UOMĀ  = EA
      • Orders generally are entered in EA and EDI orders received with UOM EA
      • We sell only full CS quantities
      • Sales UOM is generally CS
      • Put-Away UOM = CS, therefore BIN CONTENTS are in CS UOM.

Whse Pick for one item line from an order looks like this:

      TAKEĀ  Ā Item123Ā  Ā  Ā Bin ABCĀ  Ā  1 CS
      PLACE Item123Ā  Ā  Ā Bin ABCĀ  12 EA
      TAKEĀ  Ā  Item123Ā  Ā  Ā Bin ABCĀ  12 EA
      PLACEĀ  Item123Ā  Ā  Bin ShipĀ  Ā 12 EA
      ?
Since we only sell and ship full case quantities, we only want our pickers to have to count and pick cases.Ā  We don want them spending time figuring out that 12 EA = 1 CS or 24 EA = 1 CS, etc.

Your challenge starts at the sales order. You have told NAV each and it is trying to comply..

NAV does not have a function to pick most efficient unit as a standalone WMS might.

Consider modifying the pick routine to do the math and pick the case.

Our warehouse solutions provides that ability by using a license plate that “manages” that conversion for us.
