We are leaving Dynamics CRM and implementing NAV Relationship Management.Ā  Very please with the results so far.Ā  I am not quite getting something in regards to To-do’s.Ā  When we create a To-do against a contact it creates 2 To-do’s every time.Ā  Here is an example:

The first record has a “System To-do Type” = Organizer while the second record has this field set to Contact Attendee.

Notice the “Organizer To-do” field is the same on both records and they both point towards the first record TD00000063.Ā  If you go to the contact and list the To-do’s they are filtered by that contact and “System To-do Type” = Contact AttendeeĀ  so you only see the second one.

Can anyone explain why it is creating 2 To-do’s?Ā  Also where does the “Organizer To-do No.” and “System To-do Type” come into play?

Just mentioning that if you create a To-do with no contact associated with it then it does create only one To-do, but that seems pretty useless as we want our To-do’s associated with an actual Contact.

      Hi Jason,

We use NAV Relationship Management quite extensively and had the same questions originally, though I admittedly never realized it would only create a duplicate if it was assigned a Contact because for our purposes we were always associating a To-do to a Contact.

What I found was that this logic is necessary to allow for two additional functions To-dos provide, one of which we used and one we did not.

First you can set up a To-do with a Type = Meeting in which case the To-do can be assign multiple Contacts or Salespeople for the meeting and it will be associated with all of them (we have not use this functionality).

The second is Teams. You can assign a team to a To-do which allows more than one person to see the To-do in their list of To-dos. You can assign as many Salespeople as you like to a team then you will see a To-do for each person on the team plus the linking “Organizer” To-do. Any one that edits a To-do has to edit the “Organizer” To-do so all those on the Team are seeing the same changes to the To-do. One of those on the team can then assign the To-do to themselves and it deletes the associated To-dos created for the other folks on the team.

I hope this helps shed some light.

Jon thanks for the reply and I am super excited that you have experience with this! I am thinking a short phone call could really help us get a good understanding of this.Ā  I’ll contact you outside of this thread.
