      Good Morning NAVUG!

I have more and more customers asking me about printing “attachments” aka linked documents when printing a Production Order job ticket/traveler.

This is something that was reasonably easy to do with the NAV Role Tailored Client and .NET controlsĀ  – but is much more difficult to accomplish with the Business Central cloud client. This is especially true with documents migrating to SharePoint also.

I believe that it will require development of a tool that sits on the end-user’s desktop (probably minimizes to the system tray (that thing beside the clock with the tiny icons) and waits for a print job.Ā  This would check periodically and print documents to a designated printer when the user prints in BC.

      1) I’m curious if anyone has found a solution?
      2) If not to 1 – I would like to do this, but I think I need a group of customers to buy in to make it reasonably pricedĀ
      3) Would anyone consider a kickstarter to see if we can get this done?
      4) What is a reasonable price for such a thing?

I’d prefer if someone else has done it already (for a decent price) – but I have been unable to find anything.

      Thanks very much,

      -Rob

We have been able to do this using Print Node and fro PDF attachments and are now working on record links for files stored on SharePoint. This will be used to print documents for the shop traveler like the part drawing, QC Test forms, work instructions, etc.Ā  Basically a one click create job traveler.
The functionality will also be leveraged for shipping to print Quality documents that need to accompany the shipments.
When complete we will have a report that can be added to the report selection that will print the attachments along with the job card.Ā
We may add a field to designate if an attachment should or should not print.
It has not been overly complicated to create but relies on Print Node to do the printing at this time.
