Hello All,
Does anyone have experience with both NAV17 and Business Central?Ā If you were going to upgrade, which one would you choose?Ā What benefits have you found in each level?Ā Ā
Thank you,

- What do yo mean by NAV17? There was a NAV 2017 version that came out in the fall of 16 (so is one year away from the end of mainstream support).
- Are you refereeing to your different deployment options for Business Central – On Premise, Hosted, or Microsoft Saas?
- What are your primary concerns/requirements for BC?
Answers to these will help others to provide their input.

My manager asked me to do a thorough comparison between NAV17 & Business Central, as our Corporate office is using NAV17.Ā I didn’t realize that NAV17 was nearing its EOL.Ā That makes the decision much easier.Ā Ā
I am already working with Archer Point, but wanted to get some feedback from the end users.Ā Ā
Thanks to those of you who responded!

Do you mean NAV 2017 as opposed to Business Central Release 17? If so, NAV 2017 will reach the end of mainstream support in 14 months. The expense of an upgrade to a product with a 14 month mainstream life cycle is not wise, in my opinion.
Bite the bullet and move to Business Central. I personally am enjoying the change (as much as you can enjoy any change ;>)Sent from my T-Mobile 4G LTE Device——————————————-

At a minimum, I would recommend upgrading to Business Central On Premise version 14.Ā This is the last on premise version that supports the use of Objects (so you don’t have to re-develop all of your customizations) and also has the Windows Client available.Ā But it also has a lot of new features including the new modern App user interface so it is a good transition into Business Central.Ā If you don’t have a ton of customizations and your database is not overly large, then a newer version of Business Central is also something definitely worth considering (either On Premise or Online).

Hi Karen,As we have experience with implementing both I would highly recommend going with Business Central. As this software is extremely scalable and likely will prevent you from having to make any upgrades for a long time coming. I would love to jump on a quick call to show you some of the main benefits. Please feel free to reach out at anytime.Ā
All the best,
