      #NAV2015 RTC

      Hello,

We have had an influx of reports that users’ NAV clients are closing unexpectedly without warning. Some say it is when they move focus to a non-NAV window. Some say it is when they move their mouse over their task bar. NAV has been working fine for years, despite not technically being supported on Windows 10. ?Do you guys have any ideas? I have also reached out to our NAV partner, but I figured I would also ask here.

      Thanks!

Are your users laptop users with external monitors?Ā  We had this issue due to the different dpi/resolution of the monitor.Ā

      The fix:

      • Right-click on the application shortcut
      • Select the Compatibility Tab
      • Select Change high DPI settings:
        • Uncheck Program DPI
        • Check “High DPI scaling override” and the drop-down select, “System”
      • Click OK and try launching NAV

We have also encountered this and found that updating our docking station firmware fixed the problem (Windows 10/Lenovo docks).

We have the same issue in NAV 2013, and Anthony’s solution does work. However, be aware that compatibility mode could affect your print alignment if you print directly to forms. We have found that we must turn off the compatibility mode prior to printing our accounts payable checks in order for the alignment to be correct.

We’ve also experienced this, but very limited.Ā  So far, only 2 users plus myself have reported this.Ā  It started happening after we switched to Windows 10.Ā  The problem will only happen for a few hours and then just go away.Ā  Our partner had suggested to stop using multiple monitors with the docking station but that’s just not possible.

I’d be interested in hearing if this has happened to others in the community.

I would suggest looking at the Windows update log and see about rolling back updates to before the issue started.Ā  My guess is there is an update that has caused the problem.

Yes, we’ve seen this. Not specific to NAV that we know of, but since NAV is open all day long on the client workstations it’s hard to say with certainty.   We seem to do ok with laptops and 2 monitors but 3 becomes unpredictable. We finally gave up after much work to resolve the issue.  We are a Dell house with all Dell equipment. I do not see that the brand or type of monitor or the docking station/laptop updates have made a consistent difference.

I myself am running 3 mismatched monitors on a laptop reliably, but am almost never in NAV for more than a few minutes at a time.  Interpret that as you see fit.

      Best Regards,
