Lanham eShip Bill Of Lading – Shipping Payment Type
Posted by Lewis Rosenberg on June 20, 2022 at 1:44 pm-
Hello,
It appears that the Shipping Payment Type field on the (Lanham eShip) Bill of Lading comes from the Customer Card.Ā Ā
Does anyone know if it is possible for the value to be populated automatically based on the sales order?Ā I am guessing this works the way it does by design in case mutliple orders on the BOL have different values (even though that should probably not happen).

Hi Lewis,
The Shipping Payment Type on the BOL should match what is on the Sales Order.Ā However, there are many ways of creating a BOL for a Sales Order.Ā If you add a Sales Order to an existing BOL then it will not change the Shipping Payment Type that is already on that BOL.Ā If you create the BOL from the action on the Sales Order or using the //BOL command or using a Packing Rule that automatically creates the BOL, then the Shipping Payment Type will match.——————————

Thank you for the reply, Steve.
My process was:
1.Ā Enter Sales Order
2.Ā Change terms from Collect (customer default) to prepaid
3.Ā Run Packline -Enter Sales Order
4.Ā From packline, enter //BOL and update the BOL Description field
5.Ā Exit back to packline and pack the order, etc.The BOL had terms for Collect (matching the Customer card) and not Prepaid (which would match the sales order).

Ah yes, you are correct.Ā With that process the BOL will not get the Shipping Payment Type from the Order.

Steve,
Can you recommend a process that will ensure the Shipping Payment Type on the BOL will match the sales order (there will always be one order per BOL).

If you set the Auto Bill of Lading When Ship field on the Packing Rule that is assigned to the customer, then a BOL will get created automatically and will get the Shipping Payment Type from the Sales Order.Ā If you also set the Open BOL on Close Order field on the Packing Station record then the BOL will pop-up after close order so you can change the description if needed.

Thanks. Steve.
Setting Auto Bill of Lading When Ship on the Packing Rule worked.Ā However, it assigned the PACKAGE NUMBER as the BOL Number instead of using the BOL Number Series defined in Shipping Setup.Ā

Steve,
Final question:Ā Why is it designed to use the package number?
Thank you for all of your assistance today.Ā I appreciate it very much!

I don’t know that anyone knows why it is that way.Ā It has been that way for well over a decade.
