Lanham EDI – Repeating SAC on 850 – Problems Sending it back on an EDI855
Posted by Lewis Rosenberg on March 13, 2018 at 4:52 pm-
?Hello,
I’m trying to map an SAC for the header of an EDI855 (PO Acknowledment). The EDI 850 (Purchase Order) being received has three SAC segments and I have the SAC 02, 05, 07, and 15 elements going to EDI IN fields. I can see from the converted sales orders that the values of each of the three SACs have been received into the EDI IN fields properly.
SAC*A*I530***29910*4*15.00*****02~SAC*A*C000****4*1.00*****02***Damage Allowances~SAC*A*F800****4*2.00*****02***Vendor Promo Clearing CAD~
The EDI 855 only picks up the first of the three SAC segments. I’ve tried checking the REPEAT SEGMENT checkbox, but when I create/send the 855 the system seems to hang. I’ve also tried mapping three consecutive SAC segments, but each picks up the same values from the first SAC segment received.
Any ideas?

Hi Lewis,
Have you tried creating specific EDI IN storage for each of SAC qualifier values being sent in. Then you would map the 855 off each specific case.
I do that with other elements that come into via the 850, but I don’t have a sales header or sales detail field to hold that specific data.
Hope this help.

?I’m using already defined EDI In fields and the data looks like it is there, but sending it back out is my issue (EDI 855 map -second image below).
I have instructions for creating new EDI in fields, but I am a bit confused by the instructions that I have.
Even if I were to create new EDI In fields, the EDI 850 ,map only has one SAC for the header, yet it is capturin all of the data (first image below).——————————

?Hi, Lewis-
On the outgoing 855, you should have unique Segment names for the SAC segments, such as SAC-1, SAC-2, SAC-3, etc. On incoming documents, the Segment name must match the segment code sent in the file, but on outgoing documents, the segment code is used from the Segment element mapping (Segment ID), so you can have different names for the Segments themselves.
Are you using the mapping on the 850 for Lanham’s Multiple SAC Code Handling? This is a great feature that will create everything you need on the order for separate discounts and will allow you to map them back out as separate segments in the 855 and 810.
Let me know if you need more information for setting this up.

Lanham has a Document on how to Map the Discounts, I attached the PDF.I have never tried this with an 855 mapping but I have used it with 810 invoices.
To use this feature you must be on SE55.08 or higher.

?Thanks for that document, Justin. I tried mapping that like the 810 in the document you sent (with Repeat Segment checked) and the Send & Adanced PO Acknowledgement looked like it was hanging the system. Well today I tired again and let it go. It certainly seems to be looping. After about seven minutes, I got this error (check out the Line No!):

?Still working at this!
We’ve now tried on the inbound 850 to conditionally map the SAC-02 Promotion Code to different EDI IN fields (promo1, promo2, promo3) and then the AMOUNT and PERCENT fields (SAC-05, SAC-07) also are being mapped conditionally (amt1, amt,2, amt3, etc.) based on the code received in the SAC-02.
There seems to be a problem, however, conditionally mapping element 02 based on the value received in element 02. [Lanham EDI SE0.60.03]

?It seems that the trick is in the Comnditionals to start with a line that is empty except form the element name.
