Is anyone using ITEM LOT TRACKING withĀ Require Expiration Dates and/orĀ Strict Expiration Posting turned on?

We’re thinking of turning on at least Require Expiration Dates for selected items.Ā  I’m interested in feedback and whether we should have any concerns about existing inventory that may be missing an expiration date.

      Lewis,

I have deployed Expiration Dates at several customers requiring this for Food (FDA) and machinery. If you are thinking about implementing I would prepare slowly, in that you will need to change LOTALL to Require Expiration Date and populate ALL Lot Numbers to have an Expiration Date. This way if you accept Returns from Customers the Lot Number being returned must have had an Expiration Date to receive back into stock. Since you have been in business for a very long time and I am sure you have a company return policy, you can determine how long you need to go back to add the Expiration Date to the Lot No. Information Card. This will allow you to convert the old Lot Number to the new one, during a Data Migration step (for all Inventory On-Hand), and Lot Numbers already shipped out of inventory that might be returned.

As for Strict Expiration I have deployed, in the case of Food and Drug, since this keeps you in compliance to not Ship to a Customer expired Inventory. I very much like this restriction during Order Entry and when trying to Ship and item expired during picking.

Email or call if you want to chat more about this.
      Thanks and Stay Safe,
      Steve
