How Do You Choose the Right Dynamics 365 Business Central Partner for a Successful Implementation in 2026?

    Hi everyone,

I’m currently evaluating different Dynamics 365 Business Central Partners for an upcoming ERP implementation in 2026, and I’d love to get insights from the community before making a final decision.

With Business Central evolving rapidly—AI features, automation improvements, and industry-specific extensions—selecting the right partner seems more important than ever.

    • I’m hoping to learn from your real experiences. Specifically:
    • What key factors should a company consider when choosing a Business Central partner?
    • Is industry experience more important than certifications or partner tier (Gold, Tier-1, etc.)?
    • Should we prioritize partners who focus on customization, or stick to partners who promote more standardized configurations?

If you’ve worked with a Dynamics 365 Business Central partner in the past, I’d really appreciate hearing:

    • What went well
    • What challenges you faced
    • Lessons learned
    • Whether you’d recommend the same partner again

Your advice will help me—and others—make a better, informed decision. Thanks in advance and looking forward to your inputs!

    Hi Mark,

I have been involved in the MS industry for quite some time. I always advise my clients to interview potential partners before making a decision. Firstly, select a partner with proven experience in your industry. Secondly, ensure that the partner recommends independent software vendor (ISV) solutions rather than customizations. There are many reputable ISVs that develop products designed to address gaps within Business Central, which can help reduce the need for extensive customizations. Lastly, choose a partner who listens carefully to your needs and priorities.

    Best regards, Jennifer

    Mark,

Morning – Wow great question. I have been in this community for 28 years now and when evaluating Partners I would look at: 1) Team Experience and Background (are they implementors or have come from industry, operations, accounting, etc..) 2) Do they know ISV APPs and have implemented them directly 3) What industries have they implemented 4) Do they provide advisory/best practice guidance or just implement (their experience and background are key to this) 5) Do they follow a prescribe plan to implement and monitor the project for Risk and Budget 6) What is support like after GO LIVE. I could think of more but if you want to chat reach out 774-254-1185 or schinsky@llconsultingservices.com.

Partner’s industry and ISV experience definitely matter, but one more thing to consider is:

When asking for a demo, are the To-be partners really putting effort into understanding the business and your needs from your perspective? What suggestions are they making on the proposed issues right off the bat? That to me speaks volumes about how much consideration and support you are going to get.

Totally agree with you. The way a partner handles the demo says a lot about how the project will go.

If it’s just generic screens, that’s usually not a great sign. But when they ask good questions, relate things to your actual process, and even bring in relevant ISV ideas early, that’s when you know they’ve understood the business.

This matters even more with platforms like Microsoft Dynamics 365, where the real value comes from how well it fits your operations. I’ve seen teams like Dynamic Netsoft make a difference just by approaching it from that business + industry angle from day one.

Honestly, I’d pick industry experience over partner tier any day. A team that understands your business will get you live faster than a ā€œtopā€ partner figuring things out as they go.

Also, try to stick to standard features first. Too much customization early on usually creates problems later. And if a partner agrees to everything you say, that’s usually a red flag.
