Help requested on NAV2018
Posted by Michael-Carr on June 18, 2018 at 6:38 pm-
A Bug , so to speak ( hey what a great name for a BusinessCentral User Group (“BUG”)!
Seriously, we just went live in NAVUG in 2018. Ā Everytime we click on “Customize this page” , Navug 2018 crashes and disappears. doesn’t seem to matter what page you are trying to customize.
Any and all clues will be rewarded @ SUMMIT ————!
Thanks in advance.

I’m sorry to hear that regarding crashing.
it almost sounds from the error like the users personalized a column that was renamed or doesn’t exist any longer. It should handle it more cleanly but clearly if that happened NAV would be confused.
Try deleting the users Metadata on that page and see if they can personalize it once that is done? You can remove personalization from the page also in the NAV menu.
That “should” work.

wow, that’s interesting to hear. We are in the process of upgrading to NAV2018 this year. Are you really having such a hard time with it?

Meenaskhi,
We are in Day Two. A lot of self inflicted wounds with (IMHO) too much user personalization . There are some major system crashes while trying to access customization ( columns, this page).
Purchase invoices replacing GL codes and descriptionsĀ based on an alpha look on the chart of accounts. Really strange stuff!
Too much customizing has placed users at the bulleye’s because they moved everything around on their own and can’t find them in the default version.Ā
Seems way too buggy for a 6th edition of the same base program.

?Our group is at the same place you are.Ā Moved to the 4th update of the Navision 2018 and seemed to eliminate a number of the user customization features.Ā We have down loaded the 5th update and have heard at focus that it addresses someĀ of the performance features.Ā We are a fairly robust implementation and have some rather significant performance requirements.Ā We are tied to manufacturingĀ lines.Ā Our greatest concern is the newĀ approach to expanding base tablesĀ and performance.Good luck.

Michael ! We have tried to control user personalizations more at the configuration level, there are still some at user level but manageable or they will have to re-do it (not a biggie). But yeah, surprising to see so many issues at front level. You would think it would be more stable by now. Hopefully, our var is planningĀ to implement the latest updates; I guess I should check on that.Meenakshi
