      Hi,

Has anyone implemented 852 in their NAV database using Lanham EDI? We are looking to bring in this inventory information from our 3PL, which will be in EDI format to get it into NAV and make it user-friendly for our customer service and logistics department to be able to read/export/filter the information as needed.

      Any guidance is apprciated.
      Thanks,
       Meenakshi

We have one customer sending EDI852s with Lanham’s EDI.  Lanham/Absolute Value has an “add-on” service where they can retrieve the EDI 852 data you receive (via ftp) and they provide a reporting system.

      Hi Lewis, 🙂

This sounds interesting but my preference would be to pull the data into NAV directly.

      Thanks,
      ~Meenakshi

Hello Meenakshi, that is also what I hoped for, but without a set of customized tables, I don’t think there’;s much you can do with the data in NAV.  Our EDI map is also a generic document map, meaning that the data only sits within the Lanham EDI tables.   Nothing is mapped to NAV tables.

FYI, I also found that the inbound EDI 852 files can be very large (If your partner is a large retailer with lots of stores), so processing the file can take a while.  It is best to automate the process or run the EDI conversion from the server or a workstation with LOTS of memory.

Here is a link to the Absolute Value solution (Absolute Value is a Lanham company):  https://www.absolutevalue-us.com/solution/pos-data-analytics.html

      Hi Lewis,

I agree with the data concerns. I too was thinking about it and how it can enlarge our database size immensely. Ok, I will look more into the Lanham solution.

      Thanks,
      Meenakshi

      Hi Meenakshi,

We have the 852 set up for one of our clients as a generic document meaning we can bring the information into NAV but it’s not integrated with any NAV tables.  Let me know if you need any more information.

      Thank you,
      Valerie

      Hi Meenakshi,

Lewis is correct about the 852 being a Lanham Absolute Value solution.  I had a client request this but decided not to move forward with it at this time.  I am not familiar with the solution but received the attached document which appears to be a little different than the one Lewis sent.  If you decide to move forward with this, I can get additional information from Lanham on this solution.

      Thank you,
      Valerie?

      Thanks Valerie,

I appreciate your assistance with this. I will update which way we decide to go and reach out if more information is needed. We are an end user, can we reach out to Lanham directly regarding this?

      ?Hi Meenakshi,

Lanham usually wants end users to contact the NAV partner and then the NAV partner contacts Lanham if needed.  Let me know if you need more information.

      Thank you,
      Valerie

We use Lanham and obtain various external info:
for Broker Sales we pull in outside sales (so an outside sales Order so we can see how well distributors / brokers are doing against sales orders that originally are generated from inbound Purchase Orders).
for certain customers we have a modified 846 for a customized inventory status report: quantity on hand, quantity on order, quantity to ship, quantity on production order, oldest lot date, etc.
for 3PL a customized 846 inbound for confirmation of transfer receipt; and 945 (Shipping Advice) and 946 (Delivery).  Many of these documents can be customized.
I thought the 852 was more for a organization who had outside pos (point of sales transactions)?

Giving an old thread a little kick.

I’m interested to learn what solutions are being used to consume and analyze EDI852 POS data.
