Hello, all.

We’re using Totaling in Dimension Value Types in Dynamics NAV 2018. For example:

010 OEM Begin-Total
010-01 OEM Key Accounts
010-02 OEM Other Accounts
010-99 OEM End-Total (totalling 010..010-99)

We’re finding that staff setting up new customers occasionally use the 010 OEM code rather than one of the sub-codes. I can set a block on the code which pops an alert when it’s selected on a Customer card. However, I wonder whether that will affect anything when using these subtotals for analysis. 

Has anyone tried this and know what will result?

Hi Noreen,

You should setup Dimension Combinations for this to stop the errors from happening.  This does not stop analysis but prevents the users from using bad combination of dimensions.

If you put the dimension value type to begin total and end total they shouldn’t be able to use it in a transaction.
