One of our sales guys created a non-stock item and used a parenthesis in the item name. Nav 2016 said ‘ok, sure’ and we can now see it in a ‘created from nonstock’ list view of the item cards. BUT we cannot transact on the item because the parenthesis is apparently an ‘illegal’ character.Ā You cannot click on it even to delete it without getting the same stop error message about ‘( not allowed’.Ā Any idea of how to get rid of it?Ā Thanks!Ā -d.

?You will probably have to do it via the Developer Environment

It’s not advised and you may well want your partner to do this but you can fix the description in the database as well.

Hi Devora,
I was able to create a nonstock item with a parenthesis and then convert it to an item without any issues. I am using NAV2016 but I think you can use some special characters to create items. Try opening the item from the Item card. You should be able to rename it from there. If it doesn’t work, you might want to use theĀ Developer Environment as previous suggested or SQL.
Cheers,
