Hello–

We would like to create a customized item age composition report showing the following information:

—  Sales Person
—  Customer Name
—  The ability to sort by Location filter
—  The ability to sort by goods type (i.e. Raw Materials, Finished Goods, etc)
—  Item Quantity
—  Item Cost

With everything that we would like included, is this something that can be built in NAV, or is this something that would be easier to accomplish by creating a Jet Report?

You could create either a NAV report or Jet Report.  Jet may be easier because the data is directly in Excel for sorting/filtering and you can build this report yourself (without a developer). If a NAV report you would need to make sure features are added to allow for in-report sorting and filtering.
Regardless of the tool used, Items and on-hand Ledger Entries do not have a Customer (or Salesperson) associated, so unless you have a customization to link each item or Item Ledger Entry to a Customer, the answer may be that it cannot be done using either tool.

Either Jet or Power BI is the way to go for developing reports in house. That is my opinion, and I am sticking to it. 🙂
