We make extensive use of comments that are used in Production, Purchasing and Shipping. Right now we are using the Cost Control Word Wrap add on. We are in the midst of upgrading to Business Central. We are wondering if anyone has found an editor application that can be used in a comments page in Business Central. Some of the things we would like are Cut, Copy, Paste, Search, Bold, Underline, bullets, word wrap, and spell checking. Onlyt the word wrap feature is available in any of the applications we have found that work with Business Central.

Take a look at turning on the OneNote integration. We don’t use comments enough for us to take full advantage of what OneNote can do with NAV here, but I turned it on just for me and have been experimenting with it when no one is looking. It’s easy enough to do and comes with all of what OneNote can already do.

Unfortunately the latest information I have received from Microsoft regarding our Office 365 subscription is as follows:

Starting on Tuesday Feb 12, 2019, OneNote 2016 will not be included by default when a user on the Semi-Annual Channel downloads and installs Office 365 on Windows 10 from the Office Portal.

It’s not that OneNote isn’t available, Microsoft is just starting to steer people on Windows 10 to the UWP version of OneNote that’s included with Windows 10, rather than the traditional desktop app.Ā  It’s still available if you want it.Ā  This article has details and download links:

Thanks for all of the great suggestions. We are changing the comments fields from text to Binary Large Objects to store our comments.Ā We have decided to go with a J-Script Editor embedded into the comments page. We will then print using the HTML option in text fields on our documents (RDL Reports).
