      Hi there NAV experts!

Has anyone seen or created a Check/Stub/Stub produced in Word Layout?Ā  I am curious because it would seem really hard to do, but I think it would be possible, and it would address a lot of issues aligning checks by end-users.

I have always found that check alignment is a real pain in the you-know-what.Ā  I am trying to find ways to make this easier for everyone.

      Thanks

      -Rob

      Hi Robert,

I asked around my team and here’s what I was told:

The reason using Word doesn’t work is that Microsoft hasn’t provided a built-in point for the check reports using a Word layout. Ā However you can use Custom Report Layouts with Report Designer to easily modify existing layouts. Ā We have used one check report and built layouts for multiple check/stub/stub combinations by moving the fields around with great success. Ā This includes Check/Stub/Stub for report 10411.

      Hope this helps,

      Liesa

      Hi Robert,
In theory, you can do it, there are a few videos on the Web dedicating to the topic of building NAV Reports generally speaking (not specifically a Cheque Report). Some of the challenges you may encounter:
      1) Unless someone can share a corresponding Word template, you will have to build it from scratch.
      2) When you have more than 10 Lines on the Report, you want to make sure that the Report still prints correctly on the next page.
      3) If you have more than 1 page, all others (except one) must be voided by the system – you may be unable to work around this one.

Bottom line – it may be an adventurous enterprise to build your own Cheque Report in Word, but may be of interest to take it provided you have several days to dedicate to this task exclusively.

Editing an out-of-the-box Report in Report Builder or asking a developer to do so can save you days of your life and should result in a higher quality product.

I would like to hear about your outcome on this – please, share.

      Thanks and good luck!

      Hi there,Ā

This is a developer question, and I am not a developer; however, we use check/stub/stub for our check stock. Our VAR was able to customize for this. We worked with Eclipse. If you have a contact there, maybe they could make a recommendation to you.Ā

      Good luck with it,Ā
