Hey everyone,We are just trying out forecasting on our test site. We are a manufacturing company and most of our components are used to produce our products.
Is there a way to alter the forecasting so that it looks at the lower level items usage instead of the items sales?
We sell our components are spare parts but our main sales are from our finished products.I am a total beginner with this so any point in the right direction would be great.
Thanks!

Hi Caitlin,ĀWhat ERP software and version are you using? Depending on your product, there are different options/settings that could help you.
Thank you,

Good morning Lindsay and thank you for the reply!I believe we are using the below –Ā we have only been using Business Central for just over a year, so we don’t have a lot of previous data.
Version: NA Business Central 17.0 (Platform 17.0.16974.0 + Application 16.5.15941.0)
Azure AD tenant: common, Environment: Production (Production)Thanks,

Thanks for this information. Are you using any add-on/extension product for forecasting or are you using out-of-the-box manufacturing tools in Business Central? I would explore the Demand Forecasts. You can create one and then you can view the Demand Forecast Overview where you can select the Forecast type to be: Sales Item, Component, or Both.ĀThank you,

Hey Lindsay,I am looking into the Demand Forecast but not entirely sure of how to set it up. We are using the Azure that came with our Business Central.
If we are trying to predict our usage per month, we would enter that in the first month? Do we have to enter a usage for every month? We have hundreds of items it would be extremely time consuming to try to update every single item.
We are trying to see if we can do a rapid start to update as we have a separate intranet webpage that tells us our average usage per item.ĀI tried creating a test demand forecast for one item – I keep getting a result that says variance too high.
If I am entering in the predicted usage – is BC still pulling usage from what is currently in the system? or is that supposed to consume the forecast?thanks for all of your help!
