Hey! I am trying to chart a scatter plot on PowerBI but it’s giving me this error: “Your x- and y-axis values aren’t playing together nicely. Replace the x-axis field with a numerical value, or change the y-axis field values to summarizations”. The x-values are already in numerical format and the only option for summarizing the y-value is count, which does not display the values.Ā
The data was imported from Excel and I was able to create the chart in Excel.Ā
Has anyone encountered that before? Please let me know how to fix it,
Thanks!

Aya.Ā
You say the X-axis values are in numerical “format”.Ā Does the column (in query editor) show a numeric data TYPE?
Sometimes, a column holding what looks like numbers to you, actually has a data type of ABC (text) or ABC/123 (General).Ā So it looks correct, but Power BI is still treating it as a string.Ā Make sure the column data type is explicitly either decimal or whole number.Ā
Excel takes some liberties with data types that Power BI is not allowed to.Ā That may be why you can do it in Excel and not in Power BI.Ā
