To all –

I am looking to hear how anyone else using D365FO is managing production data beyond Item / BOM / Route information.  We have several locations that also need Specification sheets, special work instructions, setup notes, etc for each production order that are in our legacy ERP solution but we have not found a great location to store this information in Dynamics.

Can anyone provide some recommendations based on how they are doing it in D365 or is there some other ISV that may be  better suited to manage this info?

In many of the manufacturing companies I work with this is a requirement.  We add specific attachments at the Route level and sometimes at the BOM and Item level.  In the pass when the “traveler package” was generated which typically includes the picking list, route, QC documents, drawings and  attachments were printed, are added to the traveler package.   As computers on the shop floor increases I now have a lot of this information in the Job card.  In the Job card I can have a picture of the subassembly or finish good, I can have work instructions and determine if they are monitory to be read, prior to starting the work, I can also attach pictures as part of work instructions, so if a weld needs to look a certain way I can show it in the work instructions.  So my suggestion is take a look at the Job card functionally.

A follow up question –  what took it process have you seen at companies on how they produce the “traveler package”.?   Are there any ISV tools that can assist or is this Norte if a manual and custom process at each business.  I do not think a traveler package is something that is native to D365FO but I could be wrong.  Thoughts?

Follow up question. Can a job card “produce” the traveler package or does someone have to print each artifact manually?
