Hello, Is there a way to mass update item cost We have situation were the cost was incorrect when we migrated from AX to D365. I’ve tried the inventory closing>adjustment but it looks like it only allows one at a time.Ā Ā

      Thank you,
      AnildaĀ

      Hi Anilda,

I am by no means an expert on the inventory module, however we had a short-lived business line that required us to make modest use of the inventory modules and had this same issue when it came time to writedown the inventory.Ā  We had some success with the attached spreadsheet which can be imported into D365 using Data Management.Ā  It creates an inventory movement journal.Ā  Note that each item number removes inventory from a site/warehouse at its current value and then move it back into the same site/warehouse at the new value.Ā  The offset account takes the net amount as the write-off expense.

      Hello Anilda,

Firstly, do you have physical inventory with the wrong cost?Ā If yes, you should download all inventory on-hand and then make an issue of it by using a inventory movement journal. You can type the lines in mass by using the Add-In tool in Microsoft Excel.

I recommend that you save this file or print the journal for future references.

Once you have done that, you have to do another movement journal for the entries with the right cost of all your inventory. This will correct the cost of the products as they now are entering with the right cost.Ā In our experience, the “Latest cost price checkbox” in the released product details must be active in the item, so this be the price that will be reported. You can read more about the weighted average in this document:Ā https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/supply-chain/cost-management/running-average-cost-price

If the product does not have existence, there’s a way to change the cost price of the items in mass by using the “Pending and active item prices” entity in the Data Management Workspace.Ā However, to do this you must have an active cost version (it may be a planned cost version or an standard version).

      Hope this has been useful.

      Best regards!
